March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day. We will be celebrating at Kidz Ultimate Party Zone. We will have music by Joey Davila, food and a raffle. The board and I are excited for our first WDSD event! JOIN US!

Board Chosen
On May 16th, 2009, we met again and chose our board of directors. We discussed how we would move forward with our goals. This is a very exciting time for us and the pressure is on! Our children deserve the very best advocates and I believe we have them.
Our next meeting will be in July. At this time we will discuss our non profit status and our first fundraiser.
Anyone that wants to be involved, of course, is more than welcome!

Board of Directors
We will be having our first Board of Directors meeting on May 16th. This will be exciting because it will be the roll out for our foundation. Our kids in Corpus Christi need this! We can't sit back and do nothing. Everyone wants to jump on the bus when the bus is moving but what about getting the bus started, building the engine to get us where we need to go? GET ON THE BUS! Join us! Even if you only have a couple of hours a month, we need you! We are envisioning anything from activities to scholarships. I am up for the challenge that has been put before me.

What? Our first meeting to unveil S.T.A.R.S for DS (South Texas Advocates Reaching for the Stars for DS)

Why? Please join us for our first business meeting and the business launch of S.T.A.R.S. for DS which is the Coastal Bend’s only Down Syndrome action group.
What can you expect at our first meeting?
The unveiling of our organization’s name.
We will explain our group; its mission and how we plan on helping Corpus Christi meet the needs of those with disabilities.
Meet those currently involved with our group.
Nominations will be taken for open Board of Director’s positions as well as other key offices.
We will discuss the reasons for, and the advantages of being a section 501 (c)(3) status Not For Profit organization.
We will discuss how our group interacts with and supports the Coastal Bend Down Syndrome Advocates (CBDSA).
We will discuss planned upcoming projects.
